ARVIGO® THERAPY

The Arvigo® techniques were developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo, DN. based on her apprenticeship with the Maya healer Don Elijio Panti and her own education, training, and research as a Naprapathic Physician. Rosita's lifework, THE ARVIGO TECHNIQUES OF MAYA ABDOMINAL THERAPY®, help to restore the body to its natural balance through a series of non-invasive, external massage techniques, which help to guide the internal abdominal and pelvic organs back into their proper positions for optimum health and well being.

The techniques work by clearing congestion and blockages, releasing physical and emotional congestion from the abdomen and pelvic bowl. This, in turn, improves the flow of energy and fluids of the circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems and prevents the progression of chronic disease.

Meet Your Arvigo® Practitioner

In January of 2015, Parker completed her second professional Doula training with ToLabor, a certifying organization based in Richmond, VA. Since that time, she has provided full spectrum doula support to the RVA community. Several years ago, while holding space for a laboring client, she discovered a deep connection with therapeutic touch and was inspired by the immediate relief it brought to the her clients during one of the most physically challenging events in their lives. Because of this experience Parker decided to pursue the study of massage and bodywork.

Parker graduated from the Lotus School of Integrated Professions and is a VA licensed massage therapist. Since graduating massage school, she has been trained by Claire Marie Miller in peri-natal and postpartum massage and studied Acupressure for labor and delivery with L.Ac Keith Bell. Parker became a Practitioner of The Arvigo® Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy with the Arvigo® Institute in 2017, where she learned the art of abdominal massage for reproductive and digestive wellness. She’s also studied the Psoas/Diaphragm/pelvic floor connection with anatomist Tom Meyers of Anatomy Trains and works a couple of days a week at a Women’s and Men’s Pelvic Health Physical Therapy clinic. She is fascinated with the pelvis and its dynamic structure.

She is currently studying Visceral Manipulation with the Barrall Institute. VM assists functional and structural imbalances throughout the body including musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive, and lymphatic dysfunction. It elevates and treats the dynamics of motion and suspension in relation to organs, membranes, fascia and ligaments.

As Head of Reproductive Health Programs at Vitality, Parker hopes to co-create with like-minded individuals to build inclusive, empowering and safe spaces for people within the community to learn about their bodies. She often reflects on the words of her favorite anatomy teacher, “Your body is the healer”, and is passionate about understanding and honoring the mind-gut-body connection.

In her free time, she enjoys a good book, adventures in nature with her pup Shiori and her partner, Taylor, riding her bike, traveling, cooking nourishing foods and learning about the human body!
